When I started at Enterprise 11 years ago one of my long term career goals was to get the opportunity to take my career abroad and work internationally. A year ago, I was able to achieve this goal as was I given the opportunity to move to the UK to help develop our Revenue Management team that works with our European operations.
In 2003 I started with Enterprise in Southern California in the internship program as I was finishing up my degree in International business. I was originally drawn to Enterprise because of the potential that my internship could turn into a career once I graduated and due to the future opportunities that I saw as Enterprise was still in the beginning stages of its global expansion. As an Intern I learned a lot about the business and upon graduating was offered a job in the Management Trainee programme.
Over the next few years I continued to develop my skills, perform at a high level and earn several promotions eventually leading to me running one of the largest branches in my region. In 2010 I decided to take a promotion to Revenue Manager at the corporate office in St. Louis. This was a position that I felt suited my strengths as it requires someone with strong analytical ability as well as great communication skills. It also was an excellent opportunity for me to get exposure at the corporate level within the company and deal with high levels of management.
Having spent a couple of years in Revenue Management I was able to become an expert and leader in the department. Over the same time period our European operations continued to expand and the need to develop revenue management for these locations came to the forefront a year ago. As a result, I was offered the opportunity to move to the UK to bring my knowledge and expertise to help develop the European Revenue Management Department.
My role as a revenue manager in the UK has been nothing short of exciting over the past year. I currently work with our largest airports in the UK and Ireland to help them with forecasting, fleet management, pricing strategies and overall operational planning. Along with day-to-day revenue management I also have played an integral role in the development of our departments systems, reporting and people. With our European operations continuing to expand, so do to the opportunities in our department, which makes me excited to see the continued growth for my career in the future.
