International Women’s Day – marked annually on March 8th – is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. We took this opportunity to come together to celebrate women’s achievements, and rally for women’s equality, by staging a 6-hour event. Designed to raise aspirations and challenge bias, this unique virtual event was packed with the valuable resources you need to succeed, as you transition from education into the workplace.
Our commitment to you doesn’t stop on the 8th of March, but continues all year round: we have also created a resource kit, which is free for everyone to download. It collects the key themes of the event, expands on the content we presented, includes the social media contact details of all the speakers for easy networking as well as links to watch all the sessions again. More importantly, it also contains invaluable extra resources which we’re confident you will find useful:
WATCH:Imposter Syndrome: don’t create your barriers – break them!
Do you feel out of your depth? Feel the pressure to be perfect? Avoid applying for a role unless you meet ALL of the criteria? We heard from career coach and Imposter expert, Nazish Bhaiwala and current student and Undergraduate of the Year winner, Sarah Burke on what it takes to challenge this invisible barrier.
WATCH:Student mental health and wellbeing: what’s on your mind?
We were joined by Student Minds, Business in the Community and the creator of Keep Appy to explore some of the BIG questions YOU have: exam stress, anxiety after graduation, dealing with rejection. Together we discovered easy ways to remove the pressure and improve your wellbeing.
WATCH:Disability: standing out for the right reasons
Concerned about disclosing your disability, or how your disability will be viewed by employers? In this informative session CEO and Founder of MyPlus Consulting, Helen Cooke, turned the spotlight on the skills and strengths our disability can bring, enabling us to stand out for all the ‘right’ reasons.
This is just a selection of the sessions we hosted during the event. Please download the toolkit for links to all the sessions.
