I chose to do my internship at Enterprise because I saw all of the opportunities that existed within the company. It might seem strange that I picked this internship, because I’m studying maths and it involves very little of what I’m studying, but the skills and experience Enterprise give you can be applied to any field you wish to go into.
Also, there are lots of opportunities within Enterprise where maths could be useful, such as doing your accountancy training or going into HR etc. And because you work so hard while you’re at Enterprise it gives you a valuable insight into what life in the real world can be like after university.
I’ve found my internship really exciting so far, it’s a fast paced environment with lots to learn but everyone you work with is so friendly and helpful that you feel able to jump straight into things with your colleagues to back you up. I can’t stress enough how nice everyone within Enterprise has been, from my branch manager to fellow interns, everyone works hard but has a laugh as well. Also the customers are great to have a laugh with, especially when you build up a rapport with them.
I found that a lot of rentals come from repeat service so if you build a relationship with your customers you can ask them each time how things are going, or if they enjoyed their weekend away, as they really appreciate that personal touch. Adapting from university to working at Enterprise wasn’t as difficult as I first thought it would be because of the support structure available. Asking questions is encouraged, and you always have someone to go to if you’re struggling with anything.
The best advice I could give anyone with my experience is to put your everything into every day, don’t be afraid of making a mistake because that’s how you learn. You’re never going to be told off, you’re going to be told how to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Everyone wants you to succeed, even the customers
