We hope you’ve been following our anniversary posts, and enjoying reading about our history. 2017 marks our 60th year in business, and as we celebrate each decade we remember the key milestones that have shaped who we are as a company.
In our second decade we started our iconic“We’ll pick you up” service, while in our third decade we changed our name to Enterprise. Our fourth decade saw us expand our branch network a thousand-fold, while grew and consolidated our position in our fifth decade, reaching $9 billion in revenue.
During its fifth decade, Enterprise Rent-A-Car left the old century behind and entered a new millennium … and celebrated 50 years in business. Along the way, the company surpassed milestone after milestone and set one new record after another – compiling a success story so compelling that it is being taught at dozens of universities.
The company also ushered in a new era for the industry. In a trend pioneered and driven by Enterprise, more cars are being rented from neighborhood locations than at the airports for the first time in the history of the U.S. rental car industry.
